Answers you can read at a glance.

It learns how you like to read, then answers in short structured text, or in a clean page when the job is large.

The process

Five steps. One reading.

  1. Teach it how you read, once.

    • Choose how long answers should be, from one line to full detail.
    • Pick one step at a time, or everything at once.
    • Set when a visual page beats text.
  2. Text or page, by a rule you can read.

    • Count steps, options and values to copy in the answer.
    • Keep yes/no answers and quick fixes as short text.
    • Escalate anything with four steps or more to a page.
  3. Short, structured, one step at a time.

    • Lead with the verdict, never a preamble.
    • Show values in tables and code, not inside sentences.
    • Wait for “done” before sending the next step.
  4. A clean page from ten lines of HTML.

    • Write only the body. The design system does the rest.
    • Copy buttons, hands-off boxes, light and dark themes.
    • Stay offline: no fonts or scripts from the web.
  5. Opens in your browser. Link in chat.

    • Open the page in your default browser, straight away.
    • Print the link, so you can reopen or share the file.
    • Prune old pages with one command.

01A task with steps

How do I connect my domain to my new site?

Typical answer

Great question! Connecting a custom domain can seem daunting at first, but with the right approach it is very manageable. First, it is important to understand that there are several ways to do this, depending on your registrar and your hosting provider. Generally speaking, you will want to log in to your domain registrar, locate the DNS settings (which may be called something different depending on the provider), and then add the appropriate records.

For the root domain you will typically add an A record pointing to your host's IP address, whereas for the www version you will usually want a CNAME record. Keep in mind that DNS changes can take anywhere from a few minutes to 48 hours to propagate, so do not panic if it does not work right away. You should also make sure not to delete any MX records if you use email on that domain, since that could break your email. Additionally, you may want to set up a redirect from www to the root domain. If you run into any issues, please do not hesitate to let me know.

Step 1 of 3

Open your DNS settings

Squarespace, then Domains, then your domain, then DNS Settings.

Do not touchMX and TXT rows. Your email depends on them.

Reply there when you can see the record list.

  • The risk is a labelled box, not a clause
  • Step 2 supplies exact values, ready to copy
02A decision

Which database should I use for my app?

Typical answer

The right database really depends on a number of factors, including your data model, your scale requirements, your team's familiarity with the technology, and your budget. Relational databases such as PostgreSQL and MySQL are well suited to structured data and complex queries, while document databases like MongoDB offer flexibility for evolving schemas. SQLite can be an excellent choice for small applications or prototypes, though it may not be suitable for high-concurrency workloads.

It is also worth considering managed services, which can reduce operational overhead, as well as the ecosystem of tools and libraries available. Ultimately, the best choice depends on your specific needs, and I would recommend evaluating several options before making a decision.

  • Ends by returning the work to you

Use PostgreSQL.

It handles almost any application you will build, and you will not outgrow it.

03An error

My build fails with “Module not found: ./utils/format”. Why?

Typical answer

This error can have several possible causes. It could be that the file does not exist at the specified path, or that there is a typo in the import statement. It is also possible that the file extension is missing or that your module resolution settings in tsconfig.json or webpack are not configured correctly. Another potential cause is a case-sensitivity mismatch, which commonly occurs when moving between operating systems. You may also want to check that the dependency was installed correctly, that your node_modules folder is not corrupted, and that your build cache is not stale.

I would suggest going through each of these possibilities one by one. If the issue persists, feel free to share more details and I can take a closer look.

  • Six causes, none ranked
  • Does not say which is likely
  • No command to run
With glance

Likely cause: letter case

The file is Format.ts but the import says format. Linux builds are case-sensitive. Your Mac is not.

import { fmt } from "./utils/Format";
If that is not it
Check the path, the tsconfig paths setting, and clear the build cache.
  • The most likely cause, named
  • The fix is one copyable line
  • Other causes are collapsed, not removed
04A plan

Help me plan the launch of my product.

Typical answer

Launching a product successfully requires careful planning across a number of areas. You will want to begin by clearly defining your target audience and your value proposition, and then build a landing page that communicates this effectively. In the weeks leading up to launch, it is a good idea to build an email list, reach out to potential early adopters, and prepare your marketing materials, including social media content and a press kit. On launch day itself, you should coordinate announcements across your channels and be ready to respond to feedback quickly.

After launch, be sure to gather feedback, track your key metrics, and iterate on your product accordingly. Every product is different, so you may need to adapt this approach to your circumstances.
